- מְעַק, מְעֵיק(v. מוּק) to beat, stamp; trnsf. to scorn. Part. מָעֵיק, f. מְעִיקָא. Targ. 2 Kings 19:21; Is. 37:22, v. מוּק.Y.Ber.II, 4d top למחר … ואינון מְעִיקִין לן to-morrow they will be with us (the dead), and now they scorn us (by treading on our graves).
